What’s The Difference Between Bitcoin and Ethereum?
Here’s a short explainer video we created about the difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum. Cryptocurrencies are complex and abstract, and with this video, we aimed to provide a simple introductory overview of the key differences without going into too much detail.
Due to the abstract nature of cryptocurrencies, we aimed to keep the language of the script straightforward and the illustrations relatable to the real world (e.g., coins, buildings, etc.).
We begin the animated video by introducing Bitcoin, the original and king in the world of cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin was born in 2009 and is a decentralized, peer-to-peer system that offers an alternative method for transferring value around the world, potentially complementing traditional methods.
Next, we highlight Ethereum, whose native currency, Ether (ETH), powers a platform renowned for decentralized applications (DApps) and smart contracts.
The technology behind Ethereum paves the way for innovations like decentralized finance (DeFi), enabling financial transactions and services to operate independently of traditional third-party control.
Our animated explainer video then ends with a side-by-side comparison, highlighting the primary differences between the two leading cryptocurrencies.
With this video, we hope to contribute to people’s financial literacy, offering a glimpse into how cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum are potentially influencing the financial landscape.
